Job description

The Sales Application Engineer is a customer-facing individual who provides technical expertise across a broad range of Hexagon Mining solutions to support qualified sales opportunities.

Working with moderate supervision, this person analyses and offers advice on the best solution to address customer needs.

This individual is seen as an advisor on account strategy, application, implementation and adoption of Hexagon Mining products in particular the planning suite.

He / She has a good working knowledge of the challenges Hexagon Mining’s customers and prospects face in product development and can articulate Hexagon Mining’s message to user and management audiences.

This person is expected to perform all the activities required to support a sales engagement from the initial meeting or demonstration through to technical closure.

The Sales Application Engineer contributes to the growth of Hexagon Mining’s revenue stream in the assigned opportunities through supporting and identifying new initiatives related to software, services, education and maintenance sales.

Primary Responsibilities :

Support the following types of sales activities :

  • Technical assessments during customer meetings
  • Deliver standard demonstrations in person and over the Internet
  • Lead Technical Specialist on small validation events
  • Lead small Assessments (Process Audits)
  • Assist Hexagon Mining Value Assessment
  • Assist with customer RFQ / RFP / RFI Responses
  • Lead with basic hands-on workshops for customers
  • Active participation in Customer Satisfaction initiatives
  • Active support in Sales Representative Advice Line, etc.
  • Deliver custom demonstrations when required
  • Desired Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Mining Engineering or Geology
  • Requires a minimum of 4-7 years of Technical Sales and / or Product Development experience in Mining Industry.
  • Expertise with mine operations and mine planning software
  • The ability to travel 35%
  • Preferred Background :

  • Experience in value-selling and / or project business case development.
  • A self- starter with the ability to work independently and learn quickly
  • Experience in project management of virtual teams
  • Exceptional time management and organizational skills
  • Solid communication skills in all areas : structuring and preparing written materials, communicating orally and presentation skills
  • Competent in web technologiesPluses : Operations / Safety Products knowledge
