We appreciate your consideration of QBE as an employer of choice. Conduct loss control surveys on new and renewal business and provide loss control services to complex, large sized accounts.

Evaluate adequacy of hazard controls present, suggest improvements where needed, and solicit new business form agents to support achievement of regional and business objectives.

All work completed is done in accordance with QBE North America corporate risk and loss control program(s) guidelines and procedures.

Primary Responsibilities Provide risk analysis and consultative services for complex, large accounts within assigned specialty area Write technically detailed reports that provide a clear assessment of risk, clearly articulate recommendations and effectively document recommendation status and compliance.

  • Provide analysis and risk solutions for insured risks Utilize expertise to evaluate complex risk operations, exposures, and controls Reduce loss ratio for more complex moderate to larger continuing servicing accounts Effectively present recommendations to reduce risk exposures to loss resulting in profitable accounts Identify and provide information on unacceptable / unsatisfactory risks for underwriting determination of next action(s) Build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders that may include underwriters, agents, and policyholders Assist in growing book of business by promoting loss control service capability Review, analyze, communicate and resolve service concerns and issues from agents to appropriate management Conduct surveys to determine potential hazards, risk factors and risk information, to be considered in underwriting / risk selection Manage assigned work, surveys and accounts / policyholders, ensure each one gets the appropriate level of risk management and service based on line of business, premium size, and size / scope of operations Required Education Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience Required Experience 7 years relevant experience Required Licenses / Certifications Must possess a valid Drivers License Preferred Competencies / Skills Utilize effective research and investigative techniques Analyze and synthesize data to form options and recommendations Utilize effective communication skills to recommend solutions;
  • effectively and efficiently present logic, reasoning, and analysis to others Motivational, inspirational and enthusiastic approach to team involvement and engagement Foster and promote collaboration and teamwork Build and maintain professional networks and channels of communication inside and outside the organization Manage multiple projects or responsibilities concurrently and effectively Able to build credibility with internal and external customers Create customer satisfaction by demonstrating the value of risk control services Apply or locate appropriate resources Able to work autonomously with little direct supervision;
  • continually assess workload in light of business priorities; direct own efforts accordingly Will work extensively on computer and must be able to work in a detailed server-based environment Interest and ability to work with Excel, PowerPoint, Skype or MS Teams, SharePoint, OneNote, Google Earth, ISO E&S, On-Line GIS Mapping, and QBE Systems.

    Ability to conduct Phone and Video Conferencing Services Preferred Education Specifics Degree in Business, insurance, or related field Preferred Experience Experience in loss control required Experience presenting technical training topics to large audiences Experience conducting field training sessions 7 years of multi-line commercial loss control experience Preferred Licenses / Certifications Associate in Loss Control Management (ALCM) Certified Safety Professional (CSP) Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) Associate in Risk Management (ARM) Certified Risk Manager (CRM) Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) Preferred Knowledge Advanced working knowledge of technical aspects of commercial underwriting such as policies an endorsements, risk / hazard identification methods and risk rating plans Advanced working knowledge of industry processes, controls, and hazards Demonstrated knowledge of the business of insurance and the independent insurance business environment Demonstrated knowledge and application of ergonomics, crime prevention, DOT, NFPA, OSHA, MSHA, CPSC, and ACGIH standards Advanced knowledge of File Explorer, Microsoft Word and Outlook, Internet searches (Google, Google Maps, Google Earth, OSHA, FMCSA DOT SMS, etc.

    This may include work at a construction site, factory, or other non-office environments. Must have the ability to frequently climb ladders, stoop, reach, and stand.

    Must be able to operate basic office equipment including telephone, headset and computer. Incumbent must be able to lift up to 25 lbs.
