The Technical Services Manager is responsible for the management of key technical functions to support the Yanacocha Mine site operations.
These include Geology, Geotechnical, Hydrogeology, Short, Medium Term Planning and Mine Engineering Underground.
The major challenge for the Technical Services Manager is to manage a diverse range of key site technical functions responsible for work programs to support daily mine operations and projects through to optimisation and development of strategies and plans to enhance the value of the Life of Mine.
Global : Liaison with Newmont Operational and Technical functions to ensure full understanding of corporate requirements and compliance with these requirements.
Lead in a visible, felt, engaged and responsive manner in safety, personnel health care and wellness, as well as equipment and facility safety with the goal of a fatality free, injury and occupational illness free and a safe work environment through industry leading performance in compliance with legal requirements and industry and corporate best practices.
Understand and manage compliance with Peruvian Law on Safety and Health at Work, Peruvian Regulations of Mining Safety and Health, MYSRL Loss Prevention Manual, internal manuals of procedures and standards
Fatality Risk Management
Lead resource modeling and reserves estimation processes
Live Work Elimination : Ensure compliance with the processes and use of Live Work Elimination tools to ensure staff understanding and identification skills, authorizing administrative controls where elimination is not possible, and maintaining the Live Work Log up to date and monitoring progress to effective elimination.
Personnel fatigue management.
Quality reporting and investigation of events
Review and report on the activities of the Mine Technical Services Department
Ensure that Departmental strategic plans, and operating, capital and manpower budgets are developed, implemented and executed in the most cost effective manner and are in line with site strategic objectives.
Accountability of the tailings facility, engineering, design and monitoring.
Life of Mine (LOM) support, long / medium term planning
Global support of project execution for dam management
Accountable for drone technology service delivery (changing risk profiles for the business)
Training & Experience
Education : University studies
Training : University Professional in Mining Engineering and / or Certified and Collegiate Geologist.
A minimum of 15 years surface and / or underground mining technical experience, preferably with some experience in a similar scale large tonnage gold / copper operation.
Previous exposure to the mining operations with large hydraulic or rope shovels with similar material movements or large scale underground mining methods will be well regarded.
Preferably with training in project management : PMI, IPMA or similar.
SME Registered member or other equivalent association to act as Competent Person for the site
Knowledge and Competencies :
Proficient in Statutory and compliance reporting for internal and external reporting.
Preferred previous supervisory experience with demonstrated positive and effective leadership of large technical teams.
Demonstrable knowledge and understanding of key Engineering / Geological / Hydrogeological and Geotechnical principles for large-scale open pit mining projects.
A strong desire to expand and apply your technical knowledge in the continuous improvement of the operation
Good health to work in areas between 2600 and 4,000 meters above sea level.
Must be able to move around all operations of Minera Yanacocha, Cajamarca and Lima fulfilling functions of their position.
It is possible that the person occupying the position has to travel and help other locations, nationally and internationally
