Why we're hiring :

WPP's internal control system is structured through a three lines of defence model and imbued with WPP's risk governance framework, business integrity programme, culture based upon the principles set out in the WPP Code of Business Conduct and WPP's approach to risk management.

The Business Integrity team, which sits within the WPP Legal function, is focused on identifying and tackling root causes of risk (including emerging risk) through a structured programme which is generated by mapping resources, systems and processes against risk appetite, governance requirements and regulator expectations.

Actions include :

  • in respect of resources, bolstering messages and examples from leadership (including HQ and Network Risk Committees) with communications, training sessions, workshops and practical guidance for WPP's people and constituting "on the ground" support for day to day queries from our networks;
  • in respect of systems, advising on the implementation of WPP's policies, procedures and controls (including around internal reporting and approvals) and providing a compliance lens for the design and structure of WPP's ERP environment; and
  • in terms of processes, conducting an annual assessment of business integrity risk, monitoring dynamic data feeds (including WPP's financials, IA findings and SOX results), reviewing and investigating whistleblowing reports and tracking remediation efforts.
  • The specific role in this description is Lima based with coverage of LATAM, for a person with a background and professional qualifications in accounting, audit, compliance, law or risk and experience of ABC risks, supply chains, whistleblowing, control environments and records management.

    The role reports to the Americas Compliance Director, based in New York, who in turn reports to the WPP General Counsel, Corporate Risk, based in London, who in turn reports to the WPP Group Chief Counsel, also based in London.

    PLEASE NOTE : After restrictions around Covid have eased, this role will require 20-40% travel around LATAM. We ask only for applicants with valid passports, who would be able to commit to these travel requirements of the role.

    What you'll be doing :

    Key accountabilities :

    Items applicable in as far as the person's skill set / background is relevant to the nature of the issue raised

  • Investigating whistleblowing reports generated that relate to WPP's businesses in LATAM.
  • Investigating breaches of the WPP Code of Business Conduct and other ethical codes in LATAM.
  • Investigating breaches of external codes applicable to WPP's businesses where appropriate (e.g. marketing standards) in LATAM.
  • General accountabilities

  • Supporting the Americas Compliance Director in ensuring that WPP's business integrity programme is understood throughout LATAM.
  • Collaborating with other HQ and network departments in pursuit of the objectives of the role.
  • Responding to and assisting the Americas Compliance Director with responses to day to day regulatory queries relating to LATAM.
  • Reporting areas of concern arising from the work performed.
  • Assisting the Americas Compliance Director with monitoring and communicating regulatory change in LATAM and actively influencing WPP's businesses to champion business integrity.
  • Assisting the Americas Compliance Director with training staff in LATAM on ethics and regulatory requirements.
  • Assisting with information preparation and gathering in response to regulatory or legal requests.
  • Assisting with the completion, review and evaluation at local level in LATAM of internal risk assessments.

  • A professional background, with ACA or equivalent

  • Known ability to operate with and be respected by senior personnel
  • Fully fluent in English and Spanish (written and verbal); Strong writing skills in both languages are essential; Other language skills beneficial, but not required.
