ResponsibilitiesThe Fiscal Specialist position is located in , Peru Country Office. The incumbent will perform the following duties : Develop and maintain a tracking system for costs and requirements.

Ensure that operating plans are executed within the established resources. Identify trends indicating a deficit in future funds.

Make recommendations to program managers for the realignment of funds between accounts to meet revised requirements or support the accomplishment of planned operations.

Assist with the preparation of financial information for long-range plans of the office and update the financial plan, as required, based on expenditures, realigned funds, etc.

Obtain, compile and summarize factual narrative informative and quantitative data for use by others within the office. Serve as point of contact for activities relating to budgetary requests from budgeting analysis or offices, providing general guidance to other employees and management.

Review incoming invoice reimbursable agreements, claims for reimbursement, judgments and settlements, and expenditures. ASSIGNMENT INFORMATION : Length of Tour : Employees are limited to a maximum of five years service in an overseas assignment.

The initial tour of duty for this assignment is 3 three years. After the initial tour of duty has been completed, extensions may be granted in one-year increments up to the five-year maximum.

Employees who wish to remain on an overseas assignment in excess of the five-year maximum must request a tour extension or renewal before the end of their current assignment.

Employees who are approved to extend their overseas assignment beyond the five-year maximum will forfeit the right to return to an office of preference.

They will be placed in an appropriate position at a DEA domestic office where a vacancy exists. At the conclusion of an overseas tour, DEA will attempt to return employees to their home location.

If such a placement is not possible, employees' office of preference lists will be considered. However, employees are reminded that assignments are determined based on the needs of DEA.

Educational Allowances : Education of dependents through high school provided or paid by U.S. Government as allowable and authorized in accordance with appropriate regulations.

  • RequirementsConditions of EmploymentQualificationsGS- : You must have one 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS- Federal grade level performing duties such as providing budget rules, regulations, procedures in order to record, report on, process and keep track of budgetary transactions;
  • applying analytical methods and techniques to identify, consider, and resolve a variety of financial and / or auditing related questions and problems.

  • ORHave a Master's degree or equivalent graduate degree; or two 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree;
  • or a LL.B., or J.D. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and ilities necessary to do the work.ORHave a combination of both education and experience may be used to qualify.

  • GS- : You must have one 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS- Federal grade level performing duties such as analyzing records and transactions, and identifying system problems and initiating correction actions to management based on financial management policies, procedures, and program goals;
  • providing financial assistance and consultation to program officials, agency managers, and resource administrators in the conduct of agency business.

    ORHave a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree; or three 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree, or LL.
