Job Description Summary

This key role is responsible for leading and overseeing GE’s engagement with government in Central Latin America for all GE’s businesses (Renewable Energy, Aviation & Healthcare), building trusted relationships with government and other external stakeholders, and driving business growth through policy advocacy.

Essential responsabilities

  • Leadership Demonstrate real action of humility, transparency and focus.
  • Expertise Be the expert in CALA for government engagement activities. Improve GE market access by providing professional advice working with government institutions.
  • He / she is the trusted advisor on matters relating to policy shaping, government advocacy on decision-making procedures and stakeholder mapping and outreach as well as geopolitical analysis.

  • Glocalization Be the bridge to connect global and local GE government engagement agenda by providing macroeconomic / geopolitical views and regulatory trends / developments with the objective of secure GE business growth.
  • Business Partnership Be the functional business partner across all GE businesses, understand business priorities and strategy in order to provide timely market intelligence to facilitate and help the business execute its strategy in local markets, and supporting business to overcome any potential political, economic or policy / regulatory hurdles which may arise.
  • Enabler Be proactive to support business commercial teams to win GE bids by identifying and / or leading the engagement with government and cross ministry opportunities, creating government advocacy strategies and identifying / building relationships with key stakeholders in the region.
  • Qualifications and desired characteristics

  • Minimum 10 years of professional experience working on government affairs, leading relationships with government owned entities, including significant relevant experience with government.
  • Good knowledge of regional government institutions, regulations, policies, funding programs, and priorities. Energy background preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to think and lead on a strategic level within a complex organization
  • Strong track record with shaping policy, regulation and transactional advocacy
  • Previous experience in transactional support and funding programs would be a significant advantage
  • Constantly demonstrating GE Leadership behaviors with high level of integrity
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks, and to lay out clear, logical and implementable game plans
  • Proven ability to execute effectively on priority tasks and responsibilities, including linking details to broad outcomes
  • Ability to build excellent working relationships within a matrix environment at all levels of the organization
  • Advanced communication skills - both written and verbal English and Spanish
  • Ability to deal effectively with people and work in diverse multinational and multifunction teams; anticipate trends and manage risk;
  • motivate and inspire others
