Therefore, we have an exciting opportunity for a "Principal Geotechnical Engineer (Tailings) " to join our team based out of Lima, Peru.
The Global Mining Business within Golder provides integrated engineering and environmental services to the mining industry, with and enviable list of clients that include mining companies, consultants, engineering firms, and financial institutions.
Golder Mining is coordinated on a global level through a network of mining specialist located providing a series of unique service packages that cover mine water, mine waste, mine environment, mine infrastructure, mine engineering and geology.
A global presence allows for reliable and innovative services on a worldwide scale.
Key Responsibilities :
Provide technical leadership to the geotechnical and tailings team, working in a collaborative and coordinated manner with other senior members of GOLDER, both in the region and globally.
Participation in the definition of the business strategy of the geotechnical and tailings area.
Client interfacing, preparing reports and proposals, attending, and leading client meetings, and providing client and industry facing project descriptions and presentations with the ability to convey GOLDER's value proposition.
Participation in national and international technical conferences.
Review national and international projects and proposals.
Advise and support Project Managers and Group Leaders in taking technical decisions on projects and proposals in the area.
Work collaboratively with senior professionals from other areas such as environment, water, mining, and multidisciplinary engineering.
Coaching and mentoring of professionals, promoting high performance and development of skills and talents.
Support in the recruitment of professionals and technicians in the geotechnical and tailings disciplines.
Promotes and supports new and best practices oriented to excellence and innovation.
Job requirements :
18+ years of extensive geotechnical engineering experience, knowledge, and skills.
Bachelor’s degree or similar in Civil, Geotechnical, or environmental Engineering.
Postgraduate qualifications in Geotechnical engineering or area related to tailings management would be a plus.
Registered Chartered / professional Engineer or Member of a related professional body.
Strong working knowledge of local ground conditions and ground investigation practice.
Exposure to mining and / or industrial waste management or related civil engineer fields. Consulting experience will be well regarded.
Availability to travel.
Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills, working closely and collaboratively with colleagues and clients in a multi-disciplinary environment.
Strong verbal communication skills at all levels and critical thinking skills.
Leadership, clear communications, and the ability to influence and engage peers.
