The Universidad de Ingeniería y Tecnología (UTEC) invites applications to fill the position of Head for Global Education (GO GLOBAL) within the Office of Internationalization .

We are seeking a goal-oriented professional responsible for developing and overseeing international programs for students and implementing relevant academic activities according to overall mission and priorities of the University and its international strategy.

This position is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic team that engages across the university to promote comprehensive internationalization and global engagement.

The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and organizational skills and bring a student-focused approach to the position.

The ability to work across academic / administrative units, external institutions and building relationships is essential.

Knowledge of best practices in risk management and crisis response, conflict resolution and the development of education abroad and exchange programs is preferred.

Major duties and responsibilities (not limited to)

Primary function / summary : In this position the incumbent manages the daily operations of the Global Education programs.

He / she develops administrative procedures, collaborates with academic and administrative units across the university to develop and deliver education abroad programs and to increase student participation in them.

In this role he / she :

  • Manages and oversees a variety of exchange, faculty-led and 3rd party provider programs. Designs and implements support mechanisms and procedures for program participants and leaders, and managing relationships with partners abroad.
  • Designs and implements inbound / outbound international student services, platforms and support (pre departure orientation, reentry, and other related seminars and workshops);
  • and work with other UTEC departments to pursues innovative tactics for continual improvement.

  • Develops emergency communication protocols and prepare health and safety instructional materials for emergency situations to be shared with faculty, staff, and students.
  • Serves as first responder to all emergencies or perceived crises abroad related to inbound / outbound students.

  • Works with academic departments to achieve curricular integration of global education programs offerings or adapting courses to integrate education abroad.
  • When necessary, he / she collaborates with faculty to develop and manage faculty-led programs.

  • Designs and implements tactics to increase student access to education abroad, including scholarships. Identifies and coordinates internal and external funding for education abroad students, programs, and departmental operations.
  • Prepares and analyze data to support internationalization. Assess the impact of student experiences through evaluations and outcomes assessments.
  • Promotes Global Education participation for increasing the number of inbound / outbound international students and to foster global engagement across Campus.
  • Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Economics, Communication, and related fields.
  • Master's degree is a plus (preferably in Counseling, Education or International Studies).
  • Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in the area of international relations or education abroad within an institution of Higher Education, Embassy, Government Agency and / or Chamber of Commerce, including three (3) years of supervisory experience or as a project manager.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English (Advanced English level)
  • Experience in the development of education abroad programs and exchanges.
  • Must have the disposition and ability to travel, domestically and internationally.
  • Knowledge of best practices in risk management, crisis response and management, conflict resolution, program development, program assessment.
  • Strong organizational skills with proven ability to organize work effectively, conceptualize and prioritize objectives, and exercise independent judgment based on an understanding of organizational policies and activities.
  • Professional verbal / written communication skills and excellent interpersonal skills. Ability to communicate with tact and diplomacy and with multicultural competencies.
