The Opportunity

We are currently seeking an experienced professional to fill the position of Project Controls Manager for our one of our most important EPCM in Ausenco - Peru.

Minera Las Bambas S.A. (MMG), is currently operating an open pit mine and minerals processing plant for recovery of Copper and Molybdenum concentrates from the mined ore.

Las Bambas 3rd Ball Mill (third ball mill) Project consists of the installation of a new Ball Mill (26 ft. dia.x 40.5 ft.

length) with a 16.4 MW Gearless Motor Drive (GMD) in the grinding plant adjacent to Ball Mill 2 including all associated infrastructure to support the introduction of a Third Ball Mill.

Ausenco has been appointed as the EPCM contractor to design and manage the expansion of the processing plant including associated infrastructure.

Project duration is expected to last from Quarter 1 2019 to Quarter 4 2020. Project role will commence in Lima with the intent to transition to site in Mid 2019.

The Project Controls Manager is required to provide management, mentorship and guidance, in all aspects of cost control and progress measurement to ensure that the project is delivered to budget and in accordance with the Client’s and Ausenco’s objectives.

To assist the Project Manager and support the Construction Manager in the planning, implementation and management of project controls for the Las Bambas project.

Key Responsibilities of the Role :

Establish and maintain cost control and earned value management system for the project, using standard Ausenco systems.

Setup the baseline budget and control accounts against which trends, scope changes, commitments, payments, forecasts, budget variances and earned value can be monitored and reported.

Ensure the cost control team maintains accurate cost control records, including commitment and actual payment data entry, administrating project and corporate invoices and performing general cost control and reconciliation tasks.

Assist with the identification of value improvement opportunities and liaise with project stakeholders to develop value improvement processes.

Contribute to cost / value engineering initiatives across all stages of the project.

Perform analysis of project costs, prepare and present results to project management, client and stakeholders.

Lead the project status monitoring and reporting processes. Assist the project controls team in all aspects of cost control, progress measurement and cost forecasting.

Provide support through technical excellence in systems and procedures across both Cost Control and Planning / Scheduling.

Qualifications

Minimum 15 years’ experience in multi-disciplinary project controls management including cost control, planning and scheduling, change management and progress measurement in the field of engineering and construction.

Experienced in cost control, forecasting, progress measurement, analytical reviews, project monthly report preparation within an engineering and project related environment.

Experience in scheduling is preferable.

Knowledge of Project Management best practice methodologies. Strong conceptual and analytical skills

Technical software requirements working knowledge of Primavera P6, Prism, or equivalent cost processor application.

Proven ability to manage, motivate and influence team members and be committed to mentoring and coaching onsite personnel.

Excellent negotiation, communication and interpersonal skills will ensure success in this demanding role.

Capable of ensuring adherence to Ausenco Project Management practices

Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Powerpoint)

Ability to effectively communicate verbal and written positions and conclusions regarding project and business interests.

Fluent in Spanish and English (oral and written)
