About this opportunity :

The Environmental Technologist and / or Engineer provides support as a Subject Matter Expert for on-going compliance with environmental regulations, specifically in the area of NPDES / Wastewater compliance.

This position also ensures that all control, monitoring, recordkeeping, and reporting requirements related to areas of responsibility are satisfied.

The Environmental Technologist also provides support for environmental compliance reporting and environmental permitting projects (Permits-to-Install, NPDES permit renewals, Treatment Additive Requests, etc.).

This position is located at our Lima, Ohio facility

Responsibilities :

Preparation of monthly, annual and periodic wastewater compliance reports (DMR, Bioassay, PMP, Biosolids, etc.)

Maintain operational records necessary to demonstrate compliance with assigned environmental regulations and program

Tracking of compliance sample collection, laboratory sample submission and laboratory data reporting

Assist, as necessary, with field sample collection

Assist in performing discharge calculations and adapting procedures, processes, and techniques to meet complex regulatory and permit requirements

Coordination of environmental vendors

Ensure wastewater equipment inspections and certifications required by assigned environmental regulations and programs are properly maintained and reported, as required

Coordination of wastewater Permit-to-Install applications, including the oversight of engineering consultants and participation as the subject matter expert (SME) in project / design teams)

Responsible for the preparation of all periodic wastewater agency submittals (e.g., Treatment Additive Requests, DMR-QA study results, permit fees, routine agency communication, etc.)

Lead for all wastewater permit applications and permit renewals

Participation in the refinery's Memorandum of Change (MOC) process as an environmental department representative.

When appropriate, assist facility personnel in dealing with regulatory agency personnel during facility compliance inspections.

Participate in regulatory issue resolution with refinery and regulatory agencies

Research specific questions and issues regarding regulatory applicability and requirements

When requested, assist the corporate law department in resolving regulatory issues

Ensure assigned federal, state, or applicable governmental reporting obligations, including obligations for spills and releases, are completed in a timely and compliant manner.

Ensure on-going compliance with assigned environmental regulations and permits, and support permitting tasks.

Communicate effectively and timely with Engineering and Operations personnel to provide guidance and acquire the facility information necessary ensure proper project designs and general compliance with environmental regulations and permit obligations.

Required Qualifications :

Must be legally entitled to work in the United States

A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience and post-secondary degree in related field of study or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Minimum 3 years of experience in wastewater environmental engineering or related experience

Refinery experience and / or petrochemical experience (including engineering co-op time) will be given preference

B.S. Degree Engineering or related Science Degree (required)

M.S. Degree in Engineering or related Science Degree (desired)

Ohio P.E. License (asset)

Experience with opsEnvironmental, eDMR and other similar Environmental Management System (ISO14001 acceptable), preferred.
