Whilst overseeing the day to day financial accounting functions of MINERA ANTARES HAQUIRA PROJECT, the incumbent will be required to ensure that all functions are carried out in accordance with Group policies and procedures as well as complying with all relevant statutory requirements.
As an important member of the MINERA ANTARES HAQUIRA PROJECT pre-development team, this role requires regular dealings with various external and internal parties.
Accordingly, the candidate should have proven communication skills and negotiation experience in challenging and dynamic environments.
Furthermore, the individual requires strong professional skills, coupled with sound commercial acumen. It should be noted that the incumbent will be required to fulfil a broad range of duties during the current project feasibility phase.
These duties and organizational structure will inevitably evolve as the project progresses to the development and eventual operations phase, and as the team grows.
Implement Financial systems to provide timely, accurate and relevant information for end users.
Develop strong working relationships with end users to ensure that their information requirements are clearly understood and implemented.
Complete all month-end accounting procedures and ensure that month-end close-off and reporting is achieved within Group deadlines.
Implement appropriate internal controls commensurate with the operating environment.
Manage all finance activities and meet monthly, quarterly, and annual deadlines (full trial balance / general ledger (USD and Soles), profit & loss, balance sheet, cash flow, and capital accounts.
Maintain fixed asset register (create and maintain in USD and Soles).
Compile monthly and quarterly reports and analysis including preparation and consolidation of board reports on a quarterly basis.
Assist and attend to statutory compliance to maintain assets and mineral properties in good standing.
Ensure that all statutory requirements are met on a timely basis, including all applicable tax statements, withholdings and / or payments.
Prepare and conduct exploration related VAT reimbursement proceedings.
Represent the company before tax and administrative authorities.
Supervise financial, accounting, payroll, capital projects and accounts payable functions.
Represent the company with bank and finance institutions, manage and operate bank accounts, negotiate FX transactions (USD to SOLES mainly), organize and approve payments.
Deliver budgets and forecasts within a timely manner and contribute to annual budget processes. Monitor and ensure budgetary compliance.
Co-ordinate the external and internal financial audit process.
Undertake all treasury functions including monthly cash calls and reporting.
Perform accounting and bank reconciliations
Oversee procurement of goods and services including purchase orders and material requisitions. Evaluating suppliers, and monitoring use and completeness of purchase goods and services.
Control diverse items of expenditure (transportation, travel expenses, various services, office maintenance, leases, etc.
in order to maintain budgeted spending standards.
Manage and control all contracts, in order to ensure their validity, cost structure and proper operation, compliance.
Control and manage insurance policies : health, property, liability, etc.
Oversee the payroll function and guarantee the timely issuance of the payroll and the corresponding payment according to the established remunerations;
control vacations, work shifts, etc.
Perform Human Resource functions with support from FQM Group HR and legal department
Build a cohesive and effective finance team within the company. Ensure that the team have the necessary skills and experience to support the business requirements.
Manage and direct the activities of the team to ensure business objectives are met.
Consult with various units across the business (both financial and non-financial) in developing and ensuring continuous improvement of business processes
Positively contribute, through strong leadership, and adherence to the company’s Health, Safety and Environmental policies and procedures.
Availability to travel to HAQUIRA PROJECT, other exploration projects and locations within Peru or abroad as required to inspect facilities and supervise personnel and activities.
Carry out any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
Undergraduate degree in administration, industrial engineer, accounting, finance or related field.
Postgraduate qualifications desirable (eg. CPA, MBA).
Minimum 10 years relevant financial accounting experience, ideally in mining sector.
A strong supervisory background with proven ability to train and mentor staff.
High degree of computer literacy. Must be proficient in Microsoft application software (Word, Excel, Visio, Project).
Experience with JD Edwards and Hyperion software will be highly regarded, but is not essential.
Must be proactive and most efficient, able to organize and prioritize work, and be able to meet tight deadlines, without compromising on attention to detail.
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively with all stakeholders.
Advanced English language skills.
